Esoteric Symbolism  & The Medicine Show

Like the Arthurian tales of old, the aim of The Medicine Show is to inspire trust in the audience that the higher destiny of humanity may be worked out and that each of us plays a critical role. The story depicts the powers and perceptions of the individual, investigating how to become worthy of a place in the pattern of the cosmic Round Table.

Material existence is not something to be left behind as we advance but to be maintained as the foundation upon which we build our future growth. In the study of myth, history is of indirect importance. The high imagination produces the myths that speak to the group soul of humanity in many different conditions and times.

The Medicine Show is an attempt to re-enact the archetypal dreams stored in the collective conscience, the dreams that hold the secret to our destiny and the evolutionary potential of humankind.

The old tales, legends, and historic possibilities incorporated into The Medicine Show are not the invention of one individual, or the synthesis of many individual’s inventions; they are group imaginings evoked from deep levels of human understanding. The series expands upon the weaving pattern found in the evolution of myths over generations, the tapestry designed by our collective experience.

The intention is not merely to entertain but to sustain the human family by giving it a sense of identity, of belonging to a corpus of ancestral and inner powers. Each symbol employed expresses not only itself but the infinite depths of awareness and diverse cultural streams that reach into the corridors of immense antiquity.

The Medicine Show is like a peasant hut constructed out of ancient stones from an ancient monument. Collected fragments of oral tradition cobbled together reveal a path toward the reconciliation of opposites.

The Medicine Show is a device for orienting the direction of our endeavors delivered in a pictorial language to speak to the soul of humanity. As we learn to handle the responsibilities of cosmic adulthood, we find that these powers impose either rapid growth or self-destruction.
